About Clear Labels
A clear label puts your logo and text directly onto the container, so the product inside does the rest of the talking. Honey, infused oils, bath salts, cold brew, candles in glass and layered cosmetics are typical examples: the contents have color or texture worth showing, and an opaque white rectangle would hide it. Clear labels are also used on shop windows, display cases and acrylic signage where a sticker needs to carry text without a visible border.
Designing for a see-through label
The hardest part of a transparent label is contrast. Your artwork will sit on whatever is behind it, so dark text that looks sharp on screen can vanish against dark syrup or amber glass. Before you finalize the design, hold a printout against the actual container and check readability in shop lighting. A few practical habits help:
- Choose text colors that contrast with the product, not with a white artboard.
- Avoid very thin fonts and hairline rules on ingredient panels.
- Tell us the container color and contents so our design team can flag low-contrast areas while reviewing the file.
- If small text needs a solid panel behind it, mention that in your request so we can advise on the options for your job.
Shape, size and the container curve
Measure the flat or gently curved area where the label will sit, not the whole bottle. Round clear labels suit jar lids and the shoulders of bottles, rectangles wrap around cylinders, and die-cut outlines follow a logo so there is no visible edge at all. Squares work well on the flat faces of cosmetic pots and square jars. If the label wraps a tight curve or a tapered neck, include the diameter in your request. If you are still deciding between see-through and opaque, compare this page with our vinyl labels.
What to include in a clear label quote
Send the label size, shape, quantity and a photo or description of the container, plus your artwork. Mention whether the labels will be applied by hand or from a roll, and whether the containers go into a fridge, sit near water or live in a bathroom, so we can talk through material choices honestly. Ask for gloss or matte depending on whether you want the label to catch light or sit quietly on the glass. We email a PDF proof and start printing once you approve it. Request your clear label quote.
Clear Labels questions, answered
Which products look good with a clear label?
Anything where the contents are part of the appeal: honey, sauces, oils, bath salts, tinted cosmetics, candles in glass and bottled drinks. Clear labels also suit windows and acrylic displays. They are a weaker choice on dark or busy packaging, where printed text can be hard to read without a solid background.
How do I keep text readable on a transparent label?
Pick text colors that contrast with the product behind the label rather than with a white screen. Hold a paper mockup against the real container, avoid very thin fonts, and tell us what the container holds so the file review can point out areas that may be hard to read.
Should I choose round, rectangular or die-cut clear labels?
Round labels fit lids and bottle shoulders, rectangles wrap cylindrical jars, and squares suit the flat faces of pots. Die-cut clear labels follow the outline of your logo, which leaves no visible edge. Measure the usable flat area of the container first, then choose the shape that fits it.
Can clear labels be used on bathroom or kitchen products?
Many customers use them on shower products, sauces and chilled drinks. Because conditions vary, tell us where the product is stored and whether it gets wet or handled with oily hands when you ask for a quote, and we will discuss which material suits that use.

I have been looking for a company that could provide quality water proof labels for a very long time. I stumbled across Print Design & Tech R US LTD via Google searching, last year October 2024. Since then I have used them another 3 times and we will continue to do so. Olivia and her team are fantastic, from the proofing, making a phone call to ensure the correct information. The quality of the labels are just what we have been looking for. Keep up the great work Ken
