Designing for a see-through label

The hardest part of a transparent label is contrast. Your artwork will sit on whatever is behind it, so dark text that looks sharp on screen can vanish against dark syrup or amber glass. Before you finalize the design, hold a printout against the actual container and check readability in shop lighting. A few practical habits help:

• Choose text colors that contrast with the product, not with a white artboard.
• Avoid very thin fonts and hairline rules on ingredient panels.
• Tell us the container color and contents so our design team can flag low-contrast areas while reviewing the file.

Shape, size and the container curve

Measure the flat or gently curved area where the label will sit, not the whole bottle. Round clear labels suit jar lids and the shoulders of bottles, rectangles wrap around cylinders, and die-cut outlines follow a logo so there is no visible edge at all. Squares work well on the flat faces of cosmetic pots and square jars. If the label wraps a tight curve or a tapered neck, include the diameter in your request.
