About Decal Stickers
People use the word decal for a sticker meant to be seen on a hard surface rather than handed out: lettering on a shop window, a logo on a trailer, an instruction on a machine or a brand mark on a product. This category collects those jobs, including die cut decal stickers, vinyl decal stickers, window decals and car decals. Each is printed from your artwork and cut to the size and outline you specify.
Where businesses apply decals
- Storefront glass: opening hours, accepted payment methods, a logo or a "now hiring" notice on the door.
- Equipment and machinery: a manufacturer's name, a model number, a phone number for service or a simple operating instruction.
- Trailers, carts and vehicles: company name and contact details where customers will see them parked.
- Products: brand decals on coolers, tool cases, kayaks or skateboards sold under your name.
Reading direction, background and outline
Three details decide how a decal is set up. First, which side it is read from. A decal on the inside of a glass door, read from the sidewalk, has to be printed so it faces outward through the glass. Second, what is behind it. On dark paint or tinted glass, dark lettering vanishes, so choose colors with the surface in mind, and consider a clear sticker when you want the surface to show around the artwork. Third, the outline. A decal cut to follow a logo or lettering blends into the surface, while a rectangle or circle gives a neater frame for text-heavy notices.
What to send for a decal quote
Describe the surface (glass, painted metal, plastic or powder-coated equipment), the size of the area, whether it is indoors or outdoors, and how it will be cleaned. The team suggests a material from that information, so ask about any exposure you are unsure of. Artwork should be .cdr or .eps in CMYK at 300 dpi with 3mm bleed, and outline cuts are marked with a 1mm black line. Without a print-ready file, send what you have and the design team can recreate it. You approve an emailed PDF proof before production, and the custom quotation page is where the request starts.
Decal Stickers questions, answered
What is the difference between a decal and a sticker?
In everyday use the words overlap. Decal usually describes a design applied to a hard surface such as glass, a vehicle or equipment, while sticker covers everything from giveaways to labels. What matters for your order is the surface, the size and where the design will be read from.
Can decals be used to label equipment or machinery?
Yes. Manufacturers and rental companies use decals for brand names, model numbers, service phone numbers and short operating instructions. Tell us the surface material, the space available and how the equipment is cleaned, and the team will suggest a material for that setting.
How should I plan a decal for a shop window?
Decide whether it goes on the inside or outside of the glass and where people will read it from. Choose colors that contrast with what sits behind the glass, and keep hours and phone numbers large enough to read from the sidewalk. Send the window measurements with your design.
Should my decal follow the shape of my logo?
If the logo has a clear outline, a decal cut to follow it looks almost painted on. Text-heavy decals, such as hours or notices, usually look tidier in a rectangle or circle. Send your logo, and the design team can advise which approach suits it.

What Our Customers Say
Real reviews, quoted exactly as published on ProvenExpert.
I have been looking for a company that could provide quality water proof labels for a very long time. I stumbled across Print Design & Tech R US LTD via Google searching, last year October 2024. Since then I have used them another 3 times and we will continue to do so. Olivia and her team are fantastic, from the proofing, making a phone call to ensure the correct information. The quality of the labels are just what we have been looking for. Keep up the great work Ken
Brian Smith and his Manager and staff have been amazing with implementing our label designs and preparing the items. We receive regular updates on the progress of the printing stages and Brian is more than happy to make changes to our labels. highly recommend.
