Labels generally go on the packaging rather than directly on the rind. If you plan to apply them to a waxed surface or anything in contact with the cheese itself, raise that when you ask for a quote so we can discuss it properly.

Chilled display and shopper handling

Cheese spends its shelf life in walk-in coolers and refrigerated cases, and packs are picked up and put back by shoppers. Cold surfaces often carry condensation, so labels applied to dry, room temperature packaging before chilling usually sit better. Where should a label go on a whole cheese wheel?

Most producers place a round label on the top face of the wheel or on its wrapping, sized slightly smaller than the face so the edge stays clean. Measure the diameter of your smallest wheel if sizes vary, and send that measurement with your quote request.

Can one label design work for several cheese varieties?

A shared template with a changeable variety name and color band keeps a cheese range recognizable. List each variety as its own design with a separate quantity. If you sell the same cheese in different pack sizes, note which label size goes on each.

What information do cheese sellers usually put on the label?

Common details include the cheese name, milk type, weight, ingredients, allergens, a pack or sell-by date and the producer's name and address. Check which statements apply to your product, because we print the wording you approve exactly as supplied.

Can I write weights or dates on cheese labels by hand?

Many shops leave a blank panel for a handwritten weight or pack date. Tell us you need a writable area and which pen or marker you use, because that affects which material and finish make sense. A matte surface is usually easier to write on than gloss.
