About Wall Stickers

Start with the wall, not the design

Wall surfaces vary more than people expect. Smooth painted drywall in a flat or eggshell finish is the easiest base. Heavily textured walls, fresh paint, brick and wallpaper each change how a sticker sits, so describe the wall when you contact us, and include a photo if the finish is unusual or the surface has patches and repairs. If the room was recently painted, let the paint cure fully before applying anything.

Sizing large pieces

Use painter's tape to outline the area on the wall and photograph it from across the room; that tells you whether the scale feels right before you commit. If your design spans a whole wall, ask whether it should be produced in panels that line up when applied. For big single graphics on other surfaces, our large stickers page is also useful.

When you are ready, send the wall measurements, the shape, the number of pieces and your artwork. Illustrations and lettering reproduce cleanly at wall scale when supplied as a .cdr or .eps file in CMYK at 300 dpi. If you only have a sketch or a font name, our designers can help build the file. Can wall stickers be taken down when a child outgrows the design?

Many families plan for that. Tell us the design is for a room that will change and describe the paint finish, and we will talk through material options. Testing a small piece in a hidden spot before applying the full design is always sensible.

What kinds of rooms are wall stickers good for?

Bedrooms, nurseries and playrooms are common at home, while classrooms, offices, salons, gyms and restaurants use them for signs, branding and decoration. Any interior wall with a smooth painted surface is a reasonable candidate, and hallways and doors work too.

How do I plan a name or quote above a bed?

Measure the width of the headboard or bed frame and aim for a design slightly narrower, leaving space above for pillows and lamps. Send us the exact wording, the font you like and the width, and we will set it up in proportion.

Can a wall sticker go on a textured or brick wall?

Textured surfaces reduce the area in contact with the sticker, so results depend on the texture. Send a close-up photo of the wall when you ask for a quote, and we can advise whether a wall sticker suits it or another placement would work better.
